*Sixteen Members and two Juniors have paid their 2011 annual dues as of January 31, 2011 of the $ 1,369.63 in the General
Fund, $ 1,116 will be owed the Department and National for 2011 per capita dues, assuming the camp has 36 paid Members.
We have a total of 40 camp members which includes two Life Members and two Juniors. We have lost one member at the end of 2010
who is James Neeley, that is taking an honorable discharge. In 2010 we added members Christopher Cox, Joseph Davis and
Brock Lloyd. Dennis Oberdank has also joined the camp as a Junior.

Secretary's Report
Ron Tyrl PPC

The January 10, 2011 meeting of the Austin Blair Camp No.7 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War was held at the Eagles, Jackson, Michigan.

Members in attendance were Brothers: Kyle Bublitz, Ed Conklin, Chris Cox, Dave Gilman, Bob Griggs, Henry Hawker, Mark Heath, Bob Hoffman, Brock Lloyd, Howard Lloyd, Mike Maillard, Jeff Oberdank, Ron Tyrl, and Charlie Waters Jr.

Commander Oberdank opened the meeting with the acceptance of the Secretary's report as published in the Courier, motioned by Brother Griggs, seconded by Brother Lloyd. Motion Passed. The Treasurer's Report was distributed and accepted as presented by Brother Heath, seconded by Brother Gilman. Motion passed. It was also reported that the Camp Council's annual audit of the Treasury was done at the Christmas party and all was in order

Patriotic Instructor

1. Brother Watkins announced to the Camp that he has recently been engaged to be married. The date has been set for September 12, 2012, and the wedding will be at the Hubbard House in Concord. He would like those in the Camp with uniforms and gear to assist in the ceremony. After a little teasing from all the married men he was congratulated by the Camp on his engagement.

Signals

1. Commander Griggs reported that a page on the "History of the SUVCW" was added to the Camp's website and a link to the new application was installed.

Membership

1. JVC Lloyd received and motioned acceptance of a Junior Application from Commander Oberdank's son Dennis E. Oberdank on his 3X great uncle. Cyrus H. Potter, Company G, 12th Michigan Infantry Regiment. Dates of service from, February 24, 1864 to his death date, September 18, 1864 due to disease. All paperwork was in order and motion seconded by Brother Tyrl. Motion passed.

Communications

1. The Camp received an invitation to the Veteran's Day ceremony and new monument dedication at Withington Park.

2. The 150th anniversary of President Lincoln's election will be celebrated by the Lincoln Presidential Library/Museum in Springfield Illinois with the "Team of Rivals" displays until August 2011.

3. The newly renovated Ford Theatre and the new Center for Education and Leadership on Lincoln's legacy across from the Petersen House brochures were received.

4. Commander Griggs asked our Eagle Scout coordinator Dave Gilman for the information on the latest Scout Brother Gilman has been working with so that it can be placed on the Camp's website.

New Business

1. The two new National flags and new pole recently purchased were brought to the meeting to be put together and PCC Griggs agreed to do this project and will present Brother John Mann with the old flag as agreed previously since he generated the funds for this flag when purchased numerous years ago. (One new top will be needed for one of the new flag poles.)

2. Discussion on a new meeting place was held and it was agreed to bring proposed locations to the February meeting to be considered and then voted on for approval.

3. Discussion on the "Camp Blair Memorial Fund" and the need to keep these funds separate from the general funds to meet the agreement to use these funds for monument restoration only was held.

For the Good of the Order

1. The auxiliary announced a Dinner and Program sponsored by Nash-Hodges Camp #43, February 12, 2011 at 6:00pm at the Tecumseh American Legion program on the 4th Michigan Infantry Regiment book recently published. More on this by e-mail.

2. March 29, 2011 at the Tecumseh Library at 7:00pm there will be Sesquicentennial programs. An e-mail was sent with details.

3. The Dept. Encampment program will be on "The Stealing of President Lincoln's Body."

4. June 10-12, 2011 the 4th Michigan reenactors are sponsoring "Civil War Days" at the Dexter, Michigan Museum POC Russell Paul.

5. An April, date to be determined, presentation for a Northwest School 8th Grade class is being coordinated by Brother Cox. More as details become available.

6. Eagle Scout coordinator SVC Gilman reported there are a number of Eagle Scout candidates needing work projects and the Waterloo Farm Museum Flag Pole project was suggested to him as a current project being worked and more projects will be forwarded as they come available.

7. PCC Griggs produced flyers on up-coming events: March 7th the Michigan Theater will show the movie "Glory"; an up-coming Civil War Exhibit is being done in South Bend, Indiana and Brother Griggs had copies of the year 2010 Camp Pictures DVDs available for the Camp.

8. Brother Maillard read an article on two Civil War era dolls used to smuggle medicines through the Union lines to the Confederacy recently donated to the Museum of the Confederacy.

9. PCC Griggs reported that he placed some Michigan soil at the Michigan Monument at the Andersonville prison, and at the marker showing the spot where two members of the 4th Michigan Cavalry were killed during the capture of Jefferson Davis at Irwinville GA., on a recent trip to Florida.

Commander Oberdank proceeded to close the meeting at 8:05pm and our next camp meeting is scheduled for February 14, 2011, to be held at the Eagles, Jackson, Michigan.
